Terms of Service

By downloading, installing, or using The Cipher Gazette ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. The App

A single-player cryptogram puzzle game for Android. No account, no multiplayer or social features.

2. License

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on devices you own or control, for personal, non-commercial entertainment, subject to these Terms.

3. In-App Purchases

Optional purchases, processed entirely through Google Play:

Hint packs: consumable. Added to your balance on purchase, used up as you spend them. They can't be restored after reinstalling and are cleared by "Reset All Progress".
Category unlocks and bundles: permanent access to the categories you buy.
Remove Ads (optionally bundled with hints): permanently removes banner and full-screen ads. Optional rewarded ads stay available.
Full Access: unlocks every category, removes banner and full-screen ads, and provides unlimited hints.

Permanent purchases are tied to the buying Google account and can be recovered with Settings → Restore Purchases. Purchases are subject to Google Play's payment terms and refund policies. We do not process payments and cannot issue refunds directly, but contact us and we'll help where we can. In-game items have no cash value and cannot be transferred or exchanged for money.

4. Advertising

Ads are served by Google AdMob: banners, occasional full-screen ads between puzzles, and optional rewarded ads for an in-game reward. We are not responsible for the content of individual ads. Rewarded ads depend on availability.

5. Your Data

Progress and profile name are stored locally on your device. We don't host or back up save data. Uninstalling removes it, and "Reset All Progress" erases progress and hint balance. See the Privacy Policy.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to reverse-engineer or decompile the App (except where law permits), use it unlawfully, or interfere with its operation. That includes exploiting bugs, modifying the App, or manipulating the device clock or save data to obtain purchases, hints, or rewards.

7. Intellectual Property

The App, including its puzzles, artwork, and branding, is owned by us or our licensors. These Terms grant no ownership rights.

8. No Warranty

Provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Nothing here limits consumer-protection rights that cannot be waived.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App.

10. Changes

We may update the App or these Terms at any time. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms. You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it.
